RIVERSIDE 2ND AT DISTRICT - ADVANCE 4 TO STATE

Three Bulldog Juniors will make a return trip to the State Tournament and Senior Bryce Dietz will make his first trip.   Dietz, a three-time District Qualifier, finally broke through this year with a runner-up finish at 135#.  Bryce opened with a 7-4 win over Austin Hedstrom of Woodbine but was pinned by Kendall Witt of Tri-Center and will face Cole Hopkins of Cedar Rapids-Bayard in the first round at State.  

           

Chad Obrecht earned his second trip to State with a runner-up finish at 125#.  Chad pinned Garrett Buckley of Tri-Center in the first round but lost to Nolan Oviatt of Logan-Magnolia and had to win a wrestle back match with Bryant Griffin of AHST which Chad won 13-2.  Chad will face Nick Winter of Central Elkader in the opening round of State.

 

Jason Frain also makes a return trip to State with a District title at 160#.  Frain beat Ryan Fouts of Woodbine 7-0 and beat Clayton Michael of Logan 14-8.  Jason will wrestle Jason Rood of Pleasantville in the opening round of State.

 

Quinn Wilson makes his third trip to the State Tournament at 171# and as a District Champion for the first time.  Quinn majored Adam Whisney of Logan 18-7 and pinned Dalton Peterson of Woodbine in 2:31.  Wilson will take a 49-0 record to State and face Matt Fassbinder from Valley of Elgin in the first round of State.

 

Junior Dakota Feigenbutz just missed a chance at State with a heartbreaking 3rd place finish at 145#.  Dakota lost to champ Kyle Ring of Tri-Center in the first round but rebounded with a 4:50 pin over Taylor Riley of Treynor to set up a wrestle back for true second with Zach Schoenfield from Maple Valley.  Dakota was down early but fought back and just ran out of time on a take-down attempt to lose 8-7.

 

Freshman Dallas Dietz also placed 3rd at 112#.  Dallas lost to runner-up Quinton Doeil but rebounded with a first period pin over Brad Welch of St. Albert.

           

The State Tournament begins Wednesday, February 18 at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.  The 1A sessions are: Round 1 and Round 1 Consolations - Wednesday, February 18 6:30-10:00 p.m.

                    

Round 2 and Round 2 Consolations - Thursday, February 19 6:30 -8:45 p.m.

                  

Semi-Finals and Round 3 Consolations - Friday, February 20 2:15-3:30 p.m.

                    

Consolation Semi-finals - Friday, February 20 7:45-9:15 p.m.

                    

Consolation Finals - Saturday, February 21 12:00-2:30 p.m.

                    

Finals - Saturday, February 21 6:00-10:00 p.m.
