WRESTLERS HAVE CHAMPIONS AT
Jason
Frain and Quinn Wilson continued their winning ways last Saturday at the 40th
Annual Tiger Wrestling Invitational in
Jason
had two first period pins to set up one of the most anticipated rematches of
the tournament. Jason’s only losses at
160# this season are to his finals opponent, Blake Faucher, from
Quinn
dominated the 171# class with three first period pins (picking up his 103rd
career pin) to set up a finals match with Brick Immerman of Guthrie
Center. Quinn took early control and
never allowed Immerman to score enroute to an 8-0 major decision.
Nate
Wright scored two first period pins at 152# but lost a very close 10-6 match
with #5 rated Jon Elmore of Prairie Valley. Nate was down by two points and
made a desperation shot to give up an easy takedown at the end of the
match. Nate pinned Rob Mensing of
Wesley
Henry placed 5th at 140#, Dallas Dietz placed 5th at
119#, MacKenzie Housman was one match away from placing at 189# and Tony Salvo
had to injury default out of the tournament at 130#.
These
seven wrestlers gave the team enough points for 6th place of 18
teams.
Three
wrestlers participated in the 9-10 portion of the tournament. Collin Applegate placed 2nd at
103#, Clay Harris was 4th at 112# and R.J. Griger was 4th
at 160#.
The
top two teams will compete in a Regional Dual meet Tuesday, February 9, and the
State determines the site. The top two
individuals at each weight class will advance to the District Tournament,
Saturday, February 13 at noon at
